During my career in the U.S. Navy from 1999 to 2019This is to certify that Chief Electronics Technician Submarine Navigation (SS/DSI) Daniel Edward Osterday was transferred from active duty to the Fleet Reserve of the United States Navy on the 31st day of October, 2019 after 20 years of service. This certificate is awarded as a Testimonial of Faithful and Honorable Service.

Over the past many years, you committed yourself unselfishly in service to our nation, and it is my sincere honor and privilege to congratulate you on this extremely memorable day as we recognize you and your family on retirement from the United States Navy.
In our service, there is a saying – “Officers run the Navy, however Chief Petty Officers make it run.” Chief, you made the Navy run! Throughout your career, you understood the importance of nurturing the talents, strengths and leadership abilities of each of our Sailors, thus ensuring our Navy maintains its edge as the greatest Navy in the world!
As we render honors today and bid farewell to a Shipmate going ashore, know that I extend my personal thank you for all your sacrifices for our Sailors, their families and our Navy. Your strength in service and personal commitment truly made a significant impact.
